Double the Love: Valentine’s Day Cocktails for Two

When Grover Washington Jr. Sang, “Just the two of us, we can make it if we try,” we’re pretty sure the “it” he was referring to was a delicious cocktail for two.

With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, now is the perfect time to browse romantic cocktail recipes that yield exactly two drinks for you and your sweetie (or your bestie...or just you...no judgement here).

Keep scrolling for a dreamy lineup of bubbly, pink, chocolatey, lovey dovey cocktails for two to make this Valentine’s Day.

Pretty in Pink

If your Valentine doesn’t like anything fussy, this is your cocktail: just three ingredients that taste oh so good together. Mix one up for the two of you lickety split and get back to cuddling and watching your favorite rom-com together.

The Recipe

Add vodka, pomegranate liqueur and pineapple juice to a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into two martini glasses. Garnish with skewered pomergranate seeds.

Blushing Bubbles

If your Valentine is all about the bubbly, this Blushing Bubbles cocktail will woo them like no other. The elderflower rose gin adds a romantic floral touch that’s perfect for a Valentine’s Day porch picnic or home-cooked, candlelit dinner.

The Recipe

  • Strawberries

In a mixing glass, combine gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, ice and stir. Pour into two coupe glasses and top with Prosecco. Garnish each glass with a skewer of strawberries.

Cupid's Kiss

Cupid’s got his kiss for you this V-Day, and it’s this simple but elegant cocktail made with vodka, raspberry liqueur, fresh raspberries and lime juice.

The Recipe

  • 6-8 raspberries

Add raspberries to a cocktail shaker and muddle. Add vodka, liqueur, lime juice and ice to the shaker. Shake and strain into two glasses. Garnish both with a skewered raspberry.

Love At First Sight

If Cupid’s arrow struck you as soon as you laid eyes on your S.O., this is what you should mixing up for them on Valentine’s Day. The egg white is optional in this recipe, but we highly recommend it for a lip-smackingly smooth and creamy texture. If you and/or your other half are vegan, you can also swap the egg white for 1 ounce of aquafaba (the liquid in a can of chickpeas; it sounds crazy but trust us, it works).

The Recipe

  • 2 ounces organic raspberry juice

  • 1 ounce honey syrup

  • 1 egg white or 1 ounce aquafaba (vegan alternative), optional

  • Fresh raspberries

In a shaker, add tequila, raspberry liqueur, raspberry juice, lemon juice, honey syrup and egg white or vegan alternative. Dry shake (shake without ice) for 15 seconds, then add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Strain into chilled glasses and garnish each glass with a skewer of fresh raspberries.

Amor Picante

Craving a spicy margarita, but with extra Valentine’s Day flair? Try muddling a handful of raspberries along with the jalapeño slices to make an Amor Picante, a spicy raspberry cocktail that’ll have you saying, “Que rico!” after the first sip.

Two cocktails with raspberries, lime, and a bottle of Casa Azul.

The Recipe

  • 10 raspberries

  • 4 slices of jalapeño

Muddle 8 raspberries and the jalapeño slices in a cocktail shaker. Add tequila, lime juice, agave nectar and ice. Shake well and fine strain into two coupe glasses. Garnish each glass with a skewered raspberry.

Pure Love

Craving a strawberry lemonade with a grown-up kick? Shake up a Pure Love cocktail for you and your Valentine. Don’t forget the heart-shaped strawberry garnish!

 The Recipe

  • 9 fresh strawberries (hulled)

Muddle 8 strawberries in a cocktail shaker until smooth. Add vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup and ice to the shaker. Shake and strain into two glasses. Top with club soda and garnish each glass with a halved strawberry on a cocktail pick.

Dark Chocolate Old Fashioned

The classics are classic for a reason, but sometimes breaking free from the formula yields mind-blowingly delicious results. This chocolate-drenched take on an old fashioned would make even a cocktail purist order a second round.

The Recipe

  • Chocolate syrup

  • Cocoa powder

Rim two rocks glasses with chocolate syrup, then cocoa powder. Set aside. Combine whiskey and dark chocolate liqueur in a mixing glass and stir. Divide equally between the glasses. Add a large ice cube into each glass. Garnish each with an orange peel and skewered cherries.

The Book of Love

Who wrote the book of love? The author of this recipe, apparently, because we’re in love with them. Combining light rum, ginger liqueur and citrus, this isn’t your typical Valentine’s Day cocktail, but that’s why we love it all the more. Give your Valentine something to sip that’s as fascinating and multi-faceted as they are.

Add rum, ginger liqueur, lemon juice, lime juice, orange bitters and aromatic bitters to a cocktail shaker over ice. Shake and strain into 2 Nick & Nora glasses. Float an orange wheel on the surface of each cocktail.

Tip Toe Through the Tulips

This cocktail is V-Day in a glass: elegant rosé, smooth gin, elderflower liqueur and grapefruit soda for a blast of bubbles make up this lovely, pink cocktail. Nothing says “I love you” better than a gorgeous cocktail hand-crafted with care.

The Recipe

Add rosé, gin and elderflower liqueur to a mixing glass. Stir and divide equally between two glasses with ice. Top each with grapefruit soda.

Berry in Love Mimosa

Forget taking your Valentine to a crowded restaurant for bottomless mimosas on Valentine’s Day – you can make your own (even tastier) mimosas at home! Serve with whisky steak and eggs for a *chef’s kiss* homemade Valentine’s Day brunch.

Bottle of sparkling wine with two cocktails garnished with berries and lime.

The Recipe

  • Frozen berries of choice

Pour sparkling wine into two flutes, evenly. Add the cranberry juice and lime juice evenly to the top of each glass. Garnish each glass with frozen berries.

The Cranberry Mimosa

What screams Valentine’s Day more than a sweet rosé Champagne cocktail? Just add cranberry juice and a few cranberries and you’ve got the perfect brunch cocktail to make for your Valentine. Serve with heart-shaped waffles if you’re really going for gold.

The Recipe

  • Fresh cranberries

Pour chilled Champagne into two flute glasses, top each with chilled cranberry juice. Garnish with fresh cranberries.
