Storm Chaser To Drink Taster: Mike’s Weather Page Top Picks

Since founding his popular weather blog in 2004, Mike Boylan of Mike’s Weather Page has become something of a hometown hero for his website’s reliable weather aggregation and his proudly Flo-grown charm.

Since founding his popular weather blog in 2004, Mike Boylan of Mike’s Weather Page has become something of a hometown hero for his website’s reliable weather aggregation and his proudly Flo-grown charm. He’s a bona fide Florida Man using his self-taught meteorological powers for good; a girl dad, a Frenchie father and a weather nerd whom thousands of Floridians have come to depend on for accurate, up-to-date weather information and storm prep advice.

You’ve heard his tips for storm supply essentials to have on deck for hurricane season on his livestreams...but do you know what beers, hard seltzers and ready-to-drink cocktails he’s stocking his fridge with? Read on for Mike’s top 10 drink picks from ABC Fine Wine & Spirits to try this summer!

Jack Daniel's Coca-Cola Whiskey Cocktail

This faithful classic, and Mike’s go-to drink order, is now premixed and canned! He’s especially a fan of the new zero sugar version for when he’s trying to cut back on sugar.

For those who are RTD skeptics, Mike confirms that this canned cocktail tastes just as good as a freshly poured Jack and Coke.

“Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to tell if I was drinking one at my local Chili’s or in a can,” he says.

Just Add Ice Margarita Cocktail with Los Rijos Tequila

The name doesn’t lie--this premixed and bottled margarita only needs a glass and a couple cubes of ice to be ready to enjoy.

Mike’s wife is a margarita gal, but Mike says that she’s always getting onto him for being a bit heavy-handed with the tequila. With a premeasured cocktail like the Just Add Ice Marg, he never runs the risk of serving his lady love a too-stiff drink.

Palms Hurricane Premixed Cocktail

After a long day of tracking storms and watching spaghetti models on the computer, Mike likes to unwind with fruit flavored cocktail. What cocktail is more on-brand for the king of severe storms than a hurricane? This one is premixed as well with Palms Rum for minimum effort and maximum deliciousness.

“It just feels right to drink a hurricane after tracking hurricanes all day,” he says.

When it starts raining sideways and palm trees start bending at a right angle, that’s when you know it’s time to move from the Palms Hurricane to the Palms Category 5.

Tampa Bay Brewing Reef Donkey American Pale Ale

Mike is a huge IPA guy, and his favorite pale ale is the Tampa Bay Brewing Reef Donkey American Pale Ale. It’s got half his brand in the name (if you don’t know the Drunk Donkey story, click here), it’s his hometown brewery, the can design is so quintessentially Floridian, and the brewery owners are weather geeks just like him. What more could the crown prince of storm tracking ask for?

High Noon Sun Sips Hard Seltzer Variety

Mike was on the hard seltzer train long before they became a sunny day-drinking staple, and the High Noon Sun Sips Variety Pack is his favorite seltzer to bring along on beach and boat days. The refreshing bubbles, real fruit juice, no sugar added and variety of tropical flavors makes High Noon Sun Sips a Floridian’s dream.

“High Noons are great because I don’t feel guilty drinking a lot of them,” he says. “They were made for sunshine and 90-degree days.”

High Noon Tequila Variety

...and if you’re a fan of the classic High Noon Vodka Seltzers, give the High Noon Tequila Variety Pack a try! Mike actually prefers these over the vodka seltzers; the tequila adds just the right amount of flavor and bite, he says.

Octopoda Russian River Chardonnay

When Mike’s wife is all margarita’d out and wants to sip something with a bit of class, Octopoda’s clean, lightly oaked chardonnay is the perfect pour. He says it’s a great table wine that pairs well with whatever’s on the dinner menu and adds a touch of elegance to every meal.

Happy Dad Hard Seltzer Variety Pack

As the proud father of two girls, Mike is the happiest dad of them all. When the kiddos are swimming or playing in the backyard, Mike likes to crack open a Happy Dad Seltzer and feel like a cool dad (now that hard seltzers have hit the mainstream, of course).

Cutwater Piña Colada

In a world of so-called “manly” drinks and “girly” drinks, Mike is a loud, proud and unashamed fruity drink enthusiast.

"Personally, I think it’s really manly to show up at a bar and order a piña colada,” he says. “Before, it was like, ‘You should be drinking a beer,’ but I’m like, ‘Hell no, man, I’m gonna drink me a piña colada with an umbrella!’”

This Cutwater canned piña colada is made with Bali Hai White Rum, creating a crisp sip with hints of fresh fruit and sugarcane. Using a blender isn’t an option if a storm knocks out your electricity, so this is the perfect pack to have on-hand in case of power outages. No judgements here if you pour it into a hurricane glass and add an umbrella.

Liquid Death Sparkling Mountain Water

Water is Mike’s #1 storm necessity, and grabbing a couple packs of Liquid Death Sparkling Mountain Water over a couple boring flats of bottled water is guaranteed to elevate your H2O game. We don’t know what it is about water in a can that tastes so crisp and refreshing!

When Mike’s starting his day and gearing up to go storm hunting, he stocks his truck’s cooler with Liquid Death before hitting the road.
