Wine at Thanksgiving

Bella Notte Prosecco

Bella Notte Prosecco

Our first pick is Bella Notte Prosecco from Italy. This crisp, dry sparkling wine is a wonderful choice to welcome your guests. Serve it as an aperitif before dinner or pair it effortlessly with any Thanksgiving dish. Bella Notte’s ripe wild apple flavor is delightful for the season and well balanced with a dry effervescence.

Nathan Dale, one of our wine experts, explains that wines like Bella Notte are a smart option for fussy drinkers (like your Aunt Mildred) or a table featuring a diverse spread of flavors. A lovely sparkling wine selection is great to have on hand to sip alongside any dish from mashed potatoes to green bean casserole and beyond.

Bleu de Mer Rosé

Bleu de Mer Rosé

Our next Sourced & Certified selection is light and bright. Bleu de Mer is a great pour for Thanksgiving appetizers, as a palate cleanser between courses or to simply enjoy while waiting for dinner to be ready. This French rosé is made from a blend of grenache and cinsault grapes and expresses as a light and fruity wine with notes of red berries, citrus, watermelon and tart cherry.

Nathan shares that he always keeps rosé on hand for holidays, and Bleu de Mer is a wonderful, well-structured choice with bright acidity.

Pound Cake Chardonnay

Pound Cake Chardonnay

Nathan describes our next wine with some mouthwatering Thanksgiving adjectives - big, rich, creamy and delicious. Pound Cake Chardonnay will bring out the best of roasted turkey while not overpowering the delicate meat. This lovely white wine is aged in oak barrels, which gives it a rich texture that dances with turkey (because tannins bond to protein), Nathan shares.

For a classic pairing, sip this buttery chardonnay alongside crispy poultry skin and gravy.

Suvali Pinot Noir

Suvali Pinot Noir

An approachable, table-friendly red is a must on your kitchen counter for the holidays. Both the price point and the flavor make this wine an attractive choice to serve with your spread of dishes, desserts and delicious carvings.

Pinot noir is the universal choice for the holiday, Nathan explains. Thanksgiving, he says, tends to feature potatoes, roasted root vegetables and fall flavors. These robust flavors pair flawlessly with an American pinot, which is a bit heavier, riper and fruitier than Old World pinots. Suvali’s cherry and coriander notes will sip beautifully with cranberry sauce and other seasonal delights.

Shannon Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon

Shannon Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon

Shannon Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon from Lake County, California is a full-bodied red with notes of black currant and plum on both the nose and palate while delivering a smooth finish. This one will please even those guests at your table who don't usually enjoy red wines. Nathan adds that its lushness makes it a wonderful match for your rich gravy and buttery turkey!

This wine also doubles as a great conversation starter (or segue. If you know, you know). It’s made using a unique method called the Ovis Cycle. This symbiotic viniculture method connects the land, grazing sheep and the grape vines in a cycle of give and take that benefits nature and the vineyard. How perfect for the season of giving!

Giorgi Costarosa Bianco

Giorgi Costarosa Bianco

Of course, we saved the best for last: wine and dessert! This Costarosa Bianco will be the *chef’s kiss* to end a beautiful celebration.

This final wine is a frizzante which is slightly sweet, semi-sparkling and dry. Nathan adds that it is simply a pleasant way to finish a meal. It’s not heavy, so you can fill your final plate with all the pies and puddings you’ve been waiting all year for while raising a final Thanksgiving toast.
